The Department for Culture and Leisure Services works with health promotion activities and includes services from the citizen's institute, Lappfjärd folk high school, sports activities, cultural and museum activities, library services, youth work, employment, and integration. Our goal is to create community, vitality, and meaningful leisure time for our residents. We believe that if a person's mental health is good, their physical body also fares better. The Ostrobothnia welfare region then provides services in healthcare issues.

Kristinestad offers diverse recreational opportunities and a good range of different types of events. A rich association life is one of the cornerstones of Kristinestad.
